MEDICAL ETHICS
Recently, headlines have been made by doctors and pharmacists who refuse to prescribe or fill prescriptions for birth control pills or the recently-approved Plan B pill. What should doctors and medical professionals do when their personal beliefs conflict with a patient's request? We will be exploring the world of medical ethics tonight with three doctors who have all researched and written about this timely subject: Dr. Farr Curlin, assistant professor of medicine and a member of the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago, Dr. John Lantos, professor of pediatrics and medicine and associate director of the MacLean Center, and John Hardt, PhD, professor of bioethics at the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics & Health Policy at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
