The Neiswanger Institute
in conjunction with the
Illinois
Catholic Health Association (ILCHA)
announces
Leadership
Training & Development for
Executives who serve Catholic Healthcare
The
program of training and formation for executive leadership is designed to:
-
Provide a
foundation in the Roman Catholic tradition of moral theology and social
teaching requisite to be an effective advocate for the mission of
Catholic healthcare.
-
Help
participants develop skill in the application of Catholic teachings to
organizational and clinical challenges in health care financing and
delivery.
-
Form an
ongoing community of information and support that fosters the formation
of participants. This community has virtual and real-time aspects.
Program of Training
The program
has two major components. Brief real-time sessions combine with on-line
course work to provide training in the theological, clinical, and
organizational aspects of leadership in Catholic healthcare. The program
consists of:
-
Training sessions at the annual
Foundations of Catholic Healthcare Ethics conference
that is conducted each year on the campus of the Loyola Stritch
School of Medicine.
-
Completion of a minimum of two graduate level courses, one chosen
from each of the two categories:

options)
-

PhD – online graduate level course.
-

online graduate level course.
Category II: Organizational and Clinical Ethics (Choose one of
the following courses that deal with the ethics of finance or

MD, JD - online graduate level course.
-

Patricia Cassidy, MBA - online graduate level course.
Key Program Feature:
Commitment to Flexible Delivery Models and Ongoing Support
The program is
delivered predominantly through an online delivery system that is utilized
for the master of arts program in bioethics and health policy at the Loyola
University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. This program has been highly successful and
popular with mid-career professionals around the country.
The program
has been popular because of its ability to establish a virtual community.
The online environment enables these mid-career professionals to discuss the
concepts with each other and to apply them to their vast stock of
institutional experience. The online environment fosters a much larger
volume of discussion and analysis than is possible in a real-time graduate
seminar. As a result, these adult learners come to know each other very well
and are able to create ongoing peer relationships beyond the life of the
training.
